My personal background of addiction and/or substance misuse goes back more than 20 years. Family, friends and personal experiences are brought into my experiential knowledge as well as working professionally with addiction for more than 13 years in a variety of settings including; one-to-one counselling, intensive rehabilitation programs consisting of psychodynamic here & now groups using integrative approaches, 12 step and spiritual principles as well as Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy; the development, facilitation and managing of a Therapeutic Community dealing with many of the issues that directly relate to addiction and the surrounding issues such as; reintegration into family, work and social life; and assisting in the development and facilitation of a nationwide accredited program working almost exclusively within the framework of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I work within a humanistic, practical and spiritual framework that allows me the freedom to draw upon many techniques, skills and personal experience. I believe this to be vital when dealing with addiction, as well as any other problem or difficulty an individual is attempting to come to terms with and/or cope with.
Adding the much researched and proven advantages of auricular therapy to my approach has equipped me with another technique and treatment that has proved time and time again to be a successful complimentary treatment to assist with addiction. Change is possible, that is without doubt!
